Gratitude for Healing

As the season changes from Summer to Autumn I can see a myriad of things that I have to be thankful for, such as rain in the high desert of New Mexico. Autumn is a time for anchoring in and getting grounded but did you know that by generating gratitude we can reach an elevated state of being that also ushers in our own healing and wholeness?

During our Mongata Healing Circles, we end our ceremony by opening our hearts and being present with and focusing in all of those things we have to be thankful for including all of the difficult lessons that our life journeys can bring. Gratitude isn’t just a thinking activity, a running down the list sort of thing to do, but it’s a heart opening activity where we deeply feel the emotion of gratitude.

By feeling gratitude we are experiencing an elevated emotion putting us in a place of receiving.

When you see someone who authentically feels gratitude, whether they’re feeling grateful for the morning sunrise, a cup of coffee, taking a morning walk, experiencing a great rain shower or a gorgeous sunset, you can witness them having an energetic experience. Something shifts within them—the outer face or facade they project to the world about themselves drops and in that space an authentic vulnerability appears.

You can always tell when someone is feeling truly grateful and are really experiencing it. It goes much deeper than our “programmed” gratitude list or simply saying thank you. Someone experiencing gratitude takes a pause in the present moment and feels the expansiveness of the moment, following it with a kind word or thought.

Many people spend their days living the program of what they don’t have, or what they don’t want. But what if we focus on feeling gratitude for all the things we are creating, all the things in our lives that our actually working and worth feeling grateful for.

When we live in a program of trauma, stress, and survival, it is very hard to feel grateful, taking our awareness from what’s right in front of us. You might have 15 great things happening in you life but instead one focus’ on that one things that’s not working out. This is a survival mode symptom, always preparing for the worst-case scenario, or complaining first instead of seeing what’s working out.

Now is a great time to start focusing our thoughts and feelings on gratitude and all the things we do have in our life, even the little wins, even the hard lessons. We have been hypnotized into waiting for something outside of ourselves to make us feel better, to have that perfect solution to our personal perfect storms. Whether that’s the job that brings more money, a pill that makes it all better, shopping, a person, alcohol, cigarettes, etc. We become conditioned and dependent on our outside world to change how we feel on the inside.

Energy Flows Where Attention Goes.

This means that when you are focused on one emotion, your energy will flow in that direction. And the thing is, this works in both positive and negative ways.

Our minds and body do not know the difference between something that’s actually happening, something that has happened in the past that is triggering an emotion, or something which is a rehearsal for that what we want to happen. By practicing the elevated feeling of gratitude for 10 to 15 minutes everyday becomes a beacon, a magnet if you will, for that which we are wanting to draw to us.

Instead of looping our thoughts of everything we don’t want in our lives, we can also do the reverse of this and see a reverse effect by grounding ourselves into the positive feelings of gratitude and the feelings of freedom and wholeness you anticipate feeling in the future. As we place our attention on those feelings we will draw to us and bring into our lives those emotions and feelings that cause us to feel gratitude, joy and freedom.

Instead of living by cause and effect, let’s begin to cause the effect in our lives that we want to by feeling grateful and whole.

So think about the feeling of gratitude you would experience if some problem in your life was resolved, whether it’s a health condition, relationship problem, a job dynamic, or whatever it is that keeps you at the same level of consciousness you are currently in. Write down the feelings of relief you would feel and the state of being you would experience when that relief happens.

Gratitude is the ultimate state of receivership. Gratitude is one of the most powerful emotions for increasing your level of awareness and suggestibility. It teaches your body emotionally that the event you’re grateful for has already happened. When you hear someone say that they healed themselves with gratitude, this is what has happened. They have elevated their emotions, entered into a state of being of gratitude, moved out of their past and predictable future and, imprinted on that state of being what they are wanting to experience and this event draws it to them moment by moment.

Wishing you the feelings of Gratitude to begin the change within.
