The Emotional Fast - Week 2-Transforming Multitasking to Presence

Have you ever wondered why you feel and experience emotions the way you do? The Emotional Fast is a seven-episode series of the Mongata Podcast that will help you answer that question and use the tools you have within yourself to transform and embrace them.

Each week in our immersive experience, we will focus on a single emotion. We will share what brings these emotions to us and then fast from it so we can learn how to transform and embrace it. Join us for the Emotional Fast on Thursdays and accompanying meditations on Sundays this spring.

This episode we are looking into what we consume and how we can make our lives simpler.

This week we will take a deep look into where we are multitasking in our lives, what we are missing by doing so, and how to take one small step towards presence.

Our readings today were from the Tao Te Ching chapter 12 by Stephen Mitchel and

Calling the Spirit Back from Wandering the Earth in its Human Feet. Joy Hard from Conflict Resolution for Holy Beings W.W. Norton & Company, Inc.

Reflection Questions:

  • What are you missing by trying to do it all?

  • Do you put off spending time with loved ones or other activities you want to spend time doing until certain duties are complete or until you have more time?

  • What moments in your life do you absolutely not want to miss?

  • What makes you feel alive and at peace? If you’re having struggles with this one, think back to when you were a child.

  • When will you schedule your Practice of Presence this week?

  • What do you think your biggest obstacle to creating small moments of presence will be?

  • How will you overcome these obstacles?

  • What do you need right now?
